It used to be that spies would eavesdrop, spy by camera and use other methods, not today. The scenery has changed so much so that technology has changed the way things can be stolen on a corporate, private personal level and of course governmental. The kids versions of spy devices used to be able to be purchased at “Spy Shops” and now hackers have their own government sanctioned supply shop.
POWER PWN is a power strip which DARPA (US GOVT) helped create which has a full functional linux computer with Wifi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, Cellular, storage and more. From it, hackers can access computers, networks, data drives and devices of all kinds. It is essentially a trojan horse which if put into place can automatically hack its way into people’s data.
It can also be used for many other ways. It has built in storage, so it could conceivably be used to put things onto computers/devices also. The DARPA related company has already released a similar device PwnPlug and there is even a mobile NOKIA version called PwnPhone.
These devices are released under the guise of penetration testing. But the fact is they are programmable and fully featured at getting information, hacking and more, so it isn’t as simple as their being used to see if hacking is possible. These devices take hacking to a new level, a public and enabled one for geeks of all kinds.
Hacking is not a new phenomenon, but DARPA enabling it is. Why is DARPA enabling hacking on a much higher level?
